About Sophie Coran

Whether you’re in love, out of love, or waiting to fall, Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Sophie Coran makes you feel like you’re already there. It’s the fuel to the fire behind her 2025 album, i don’t go to new york anymore. A brutally honest lyricist, classically trained pianist and composer, her sound gravitates toward the orchestral, and to listen to a Sophie Coran track is to listen to a pop-infused symphony.

A poignant and nostalgic look back on her first real love and heartbreak during her formative years studying at the Manhattan School of Music, i don’t go to new york anymore serves as a departure from Coran’s previous work, with a shift toward pop-leaning production while still maintaining her signature live string arrangements. As of recently, Coran has been spending time in Brooklyn, NY to record and develop her next project.

Named an NPR Slingshot Artist to Watch and a Shure Songwriting Award winner, she has also been praised by NPR Music, Uproxx, Ones to Watch, EARMILK, and more.

i don’t go to new york anymore debuted at #120 on the overall NACC top 200 and earned editorial placements on Apple Music’s “New in Alternative,” “INDIY”, “New in Indie,” TIDAL’s “Wav,” “Tidal: Rising,” “Pop: Rising,” “Chill Pop,” Amazon Music’s “The High End,” and VEVO’s: “New Music Friday” and “New in Indie.”

Touring has been integral to Coran’s growth as an artist, and over the past few years, her live show has garnered increased attention, allowing her to share stages with artists such as Margaret Glaspy, Pom Pom Squad, Lisa Loeb, Bernhoft, Billy Allen + the Pollies, A Great Big World, Jade Bird — who handpicked Coran as an opener on one of her tour stops — and Paul Reiser at the Keswick Theatre.

“Coran’s i don’t go to new york anymore… is a pensive yet poppy collection of songs reflecting on love, loss, growth, and change. With chops and an aesthetic reminiscent of Clairo and Lana Del Rey, it’s at once nostalgic, yet focused on the future and prepared to embrace the unknown.” – WXPN
